# Master Samurai Tech Academy Course Sample

Wonder what online training is like?

That's what this Course Sample will show you!

It's a lot like being in a brick-and-mortar school - there are lectures, readings, and tests.

It is interactive: there are Student Forums where you can get individualized help from the Samurai when you need it.

But, you get the added bonus of being able to work at your own pace to master the material.

Check out the following excerpts from lessons in the Basic Electricity and Troubleshooting modules of the Fundamentals of Appliance Repair course to get a taste of the expert instruction given to our students.

Note that these are not full lessons - the actual lessons are MUCH longer than shown here.

Enjoy!

Sample 1: What is Electricity?

In this presentation, I explain the nature of electricity in more detail using actual (electron) current flow:

Sample 2: Introduction to Ohm's Law for Master Samurai Techs

This presentation is from the lesson on Voltage, Current, Resistance, and Power.

Sample 3: Using Electrically Equivalent Points (EEPs) to Save Time and Money on Service Calls

A powerful troubleshooting concept is Electrically Equivalent Points (EEP). EEPs are points that look exactly the same to electrons. The two characteristics of EEPs are:

1) They have electrical continuity with each other. In other words, if you measure the resistance between two points that are electrically equivalent, you will measure zero ohms. It would be like measuring the resistance in a section of wire.

2) There is zero voltage difference between points that are electrically equivalent. If you were to measure voltage across two EEPs, you would read zero, even if both points were at 120vac.

Understanding, recognizing, knowing how to use EEPs can help you avoid needlessly tearing down an appliance just so you can check a component. Watch how I use EEPs in this video to troubleshoot a stack laundry unit:

At the end of every unit is a quiz that must be passed before moving onto the next unit. Some courses also have other exams such as at the end of a module, a midterm, or a final exam. Quizzes are an incredibly important component of helping to keep students accountable for their learning and evaluating how well they've mastered the material. They also give you the opportunity to apply what you've been learning and really help it to sink in.

We also use the quizzes as an opportunity for more instruction, through the use of explanations that are revealed after you've taken the quiz.

Here's what a quiz looks like. Most of the quizzes are graded automatically so you get immediate feedback on how you did.

This is not a "live" quiz so the questions aren't clickable like they are in the actual courses! 🙂

So there you have it - a VERY SMALL SAMPLE of what you will learn at the Master Samurai Tech Academy. Each course is chock full of text, diagrams, photos, presentations, videos and audio recordings all designed to keep things interesting while presenting the information clearly.
