There’s no such thing as a “shortest” route for an electron.
(Plus, remember that a schematic diagram does not represent the actual length of wires, etc.)
Electrons feel voltage and resistance. Voltage is what pushes them to move, resistance causes resistance to their movement.
A switch has essentially no resistance. We talked in unit 5 about the effect of having a branch available that has no resistance. There’s a particular term for this (and I’m not talking about a short – that’s a fault condition). Look and see if you can figure out what I’m talking about.
