(I moved this to its own topic in the Fundamentals Forum – that’s how you should post a question, for future reference.)
We’re asking for the two ways sensors are used in appliances. That’s what we mean by “application” – how they are used, or, what their job is. For example, an incorrect answer is “heating and cooling”. The sensors do not heat or cool. (They may be involved in a heating or cooling circuit, but they don’t DO the heating or cooling.)
By the way – are you aware that to earn Master Certification you must have a 90% on EACH quiz and exam in the course?
