In Question 8 of the midterm, we have a circuit that has 5 components:
Igniter
Booster
Main
Safety
Detector switch (closed)
The first 4 are loads, so they potentially have voltage drop across them if current is flowing through them. What that voltage drop is depends on if the particular load is in series or parallel with the other loads.
So, the first step is to decide which loads have current flowing through them.
I don’t quite understand what you were saying above about the switch. The fact that it is closed does have an affect on the circuit, and is what makes it possible to answer the question without needing to know the resistance of each load.
