    Excellent question!

    It’s not a trick question, but it is a little tricky, because of course current needs to be flowing through a load to produce work.

    But current cannot be flowing without voltage. And what is current x voltage? Power.

    Work is all about power. That’s why the most common specification on a tech sheet for a load is “watts” (although recent trends are to list voltage, because a lot of techs don’t know what to do with a wattage spec).

    We do emphasize that in various places, but I’m glad you’ve brought this up so we have another opportunity to reiterate: it’s important to think of loads and work in terms of power, not just voltage and not just current.
