The current in a series circuit that is open doesn’t flow. The circuit has to be closed for there to be current.
In a house, however, when one light bulb burns out the other lights remain on.
Even in a single light fixture with two bulbs, one can go out and not effect the other bulb. This tells me it must be a parallel circuit. But this is why I asked the question, to be sure I understand it. Are the lights in a house a series or parallel circuit?
