Hi Gustavo,
Yes, this works because voltage drop is directly proportional to resistance, and power is directly proportional to voltage drop (P=IxE) and “I” is the same throughout the circuit. Your calculation reflects those relationships.
Most techs aren’t that comfortable thinking through the relationships mathematically, so we emphasize stepping through with the current calculation, then the power calculation using current and the resistance of the loose connection.
