When you say timer, are you referring to the timer motor or to the timer contacts? Very important distinction.

The timer contacts are switches. There are many sets of timer contacts around the machine, but they are all switches, and you can test them just like any other switch.

The timer motor is a load that actuates the timer contacts, opening or closing them in accordance with the timer chart.
